A process for recovering hydrocarbons from coal or oil shale is disclosed. The process involves the steps of: forming a pulp of finely divided coal or oil shale in a first reaction bed, adding concentrated sulphuric acid to said first reaction bed, controlling the temperature of said first reaction bed to produce a hydrocarbon mixture, and deacidifying said hydrocarbon mixture.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de récupérer des hydrocarbures présents dans la houille ou dans le schiste bitumineux. Ce procédé consiste à former, dans un premier lit de réaction, une pulpe constituée de houille ou de schiste bitumineux finement séparé, à ajouter de l'acide sulfurique concentré à ce premier lit de réaction, à réguler la température de ce premier lit de réaction afin d'obtenir un mélange d'hydrocarbures et à neutraliser ce mélange d'hydrocarbures.
