A process for the production of a ketone having a carbon number between about 20 and about 40 comprising contacting fatty acids containing from about 10 to about 21 carbons atoms with a hydrotalcite catalyst under conditions effective to decarboxylate said acids. More particularly said decarboxylation conditions comprise: a temperature in the range between about 300°C and about 400°C; a pressure in the range between about 0.01 and about 5 bar; and a weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of from about 0.1 to about 10 hr-1.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour la production d'une cétone présentant un nombre d'atomes de carbone compris entre environ 20 et environ 40. Ce procédé consiste à mettre des acides gras contenant entre environ 10 et environ 21 atomes de carbone en contact avec un catalyseur d'hydrotalcite dans des conditions efficaces pour la décarboxylation de ces acides. Plus particulièrement, les conditions de décarboxylation impliquent une température comprise entre environ 300°C et environ 400°C, une pression comprise entre environ 0,01 et environ 5 bars ainsi qu'une vitesse spatiale horaire massique (WHSV) comprise entre environ 0,1 et environ 10 h-1.
