A process for the double bond isomerization of an olefin, which process comprises contacting a feed comprising the olefin with an isomerization catalyst, wherein prior to contacting the feed with the isomerization catalyst one or more components of the feed are pretreated by contacting with a pretreating material which comprises a zeolite which has a pore size of at least 0.35 nm; a plant which is suitable for carrying out the isomerization process; and a process for treating an olefin mixture which comprises a linear .alpha.-olefin and which is of the general formula CH2=C(R1)R2, wherein R1 represents an ethyl group and R2 represents a linear 1-alkyl group, which process comprises isomerising linear 1-alkyl group, which process comprises isomerising the vinylidene olefin to form a double bond isomer of the vinylidene olefin by contacting a feed comprising the olefin mixture with an isomerization catalyst, and separating the linear .alpha.-olefin from the double bond isomer of the vinylidene olefin, wherein prior to contacting the feed with the isomerization catalyst one or more components of the feed are pretreated by contacting with a pretreating material which comprises a zeolite which has a pore size of at least 0.35 nm.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'isomérisation double liaison d'oléfine, ce procédé consistant à mettre en contact une charge contenant l'oléfine avec un catalyseur d'isomérisation, au moins un élément de la charge étant prétraité, avant le contact de ladite charge avec un catalyseur d'isomérisation, par contact avec un matériau de prétraitement contenant une zéolite dont la dimension des pores est d'au moins 0,35 nm. L'invention concerne également un équipement conçu pour mettre en oeuvre ledit procédé d'isomérisation. L'invention concerne encore un procédé de traitement d'un mélange d'oléfines contenant une .alpha.-oléfine linéaire et une oléfine vinylidénique qui est isomère pour l'.alpha.-oléfine linéaire et qui est de formule générale CH¿2?=C(R?1¿)R?2¿, R?1¿ représentant un groupe éthyle et R?2¿ représentant un groupe 1-alkyle linéaire, ledit procédé consistant à isomérer l'oléfine vinylidénique pour former un isomère double liaison de l'oléfine vinylidénique par contact d'une charge contenant le mélange d'oléfines avec un catalyseur d'isomérisation, et à séparer l'.alpha.-oléfine linéaire de l'isomère double liaison de l'oléfine vinylidénique, au moins un élément de la charge étant prétraité, avant le contact de ladite charge avec le catalyseur d'isomérisation, par contact avec un matériau de prétraitement contenant une zéolite dont la dimension des pores est d'au moins 0,35 nm.
