This invention covers a novel method for the preparation of hydroxy polymer esters of amino, alkylamino and quaternary ammonium acids and their use in several fields of industry, incuding the use as additives in the manufacture of paper or paperboard. The esterification of the hydroxy polymer, preferably starch, is performed under semianhydrous conditions by heating homogenized mixtures of the hydroxy polymer and reagents.

Cette invention porte sur un nouveau procédé de préparation d'esters de polymère hydroxy d'acides amino, alkylamino et d'ammonium quaternaire ainsi que sur leur utilisation dans différentes branches de l'industrie, y compris leur utilisation comme additifs dans la fabrication de papier ou de carton. L'estérification du polymère hydroxy, de préférence d'amidon, est réalisée dans des conditions semi-anhydres au moyen du chauffage de mélanges homogénéisés du polymère hydroxy et de réactifs.
