This invention covers a novel method for the preparation of hydroxy polymer esters of amino, alkylamino and quaternary ammonium acids and their use in several fields of industry, incuding the use as additives in the manufacture of paper or paperboard. The esterification of the hydroxy polymer, preferably starch, is performed under semianhydrous conditions by heating homogenized mixtures of the hydroxy polymer and reagents.

La présente invention porte sur une nouvelle méthode de synthèse d'esters d'hydroxypolymères à partir d'acides aminés, alkylaminés et portant une fonction ammonium quaternaire, ainsi que leur application à plusieurs domaines de l'industrie, y compris leur emploi en tant qu'adjuvants dans la fabrication de papier ou de carton. L'estérification de l'hydroxypolymère, préférentiellement de l'amidon, est mise en AEuvre dans des conditions semi-anhydres en chauffant des mélanges homogénéisés de l'hydroxypolymère et de réactifs.
