This invention relates to a process for the production of tetrabromobisphenol- A by the bromination of bisphenol-A, which process features: (a) feeding to a reaction mass (i) bisphenol-A and (ii) a stream of gaseous bromine, the gaseous stream having a Reynold's number >= 40,000; (b) the reaction mass containing from 50 to 20,000 ppm unreacted bromine and less than 20 wt.% HBr, and (c) the reaction mass having precipitated there form tetrabromobisphenol-A, all of (a)(ii); (b) and (c) occurring during the bisphenol-A feed.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production de tétrabromobisphénol-A par bromation du bisphénol-A. Ledit procédé consiste à: envoyer à une masse réactionnelle (I) du bisphénol-A et (ii) un courant de brome gazeux, le courant gazeux présentant un nombre de Reynold >/= 40 000; (b) la masse réactionnelle contenant 50 à 20 000 ppm de brome n'ayant pas réagi et moins de 20 % en poids de HBr; et (c) la masse réactionnelle précipitée forme du tétrabromobisphénol-A, (a)(ii), (b) et (c) se déroulant pendant l'alimentation en bisphénol-A.
