A process for the catalytic conversion of carboxylic acids with acetylene to vinylesters. At least one, preferably saturated, secondary carboxylic acid and/or at least one, preferably tertiary carboxylic acid is (are) passed in the gas phase together with acetylene at an elevated temperature, preferably in the range of from 150 to 400~C, over a catalyst comprising zinc and a solid inert oxidic carrier, preferably alumina. The carboxylic acids have advantageously formula (I) in which R1 is H or an alkyl group and R2 and R3 are alkyl groups, the total number of C-atoms of R1 + R2 + R3 being in the range of from 3 to 18. These vinylesters have a good stability and are particularly useful components in emulsion paints and as modifiers in alkyd and epoxy resins.

L'invention concerne un procédé destiné au craquage catalytique d'acides carboxyliques avec de l'acétylène de sorte qu'ils soient transformés en vinylesters. Au moins un acide carboxylique secondaire, de préférence saturé, et/ ou au moins un acide carboxylique de préférence tertiaire est (sont) passé(s) en phase gazeuse avec de l'acétylène à une température élevée, de préférence comprise entre 150 et 400 DEG C, sur un catalyseur comprenant du zinc et un support inerte solide obtenu par oxydation, de préférence de l'alumine. Ces acides carboxyliques présentent avantageusement la formule suivante (I), où R1 est un H ou un groupe alkyle, et R2 et R3 sont des groupes alkyles, le nombre total d'atomes de C de R1 + R2 + R3 étant compris entre 3 et 18. Ces vinylesters présentent une bonne stabilité et sont des composants particulièrement utiles dans des peintures-émulsions, et comme modificateurs dans des résines alkydes et époxy.
