2107684 9217431 PCTABS00016 Fatty alcohol polyalkylene glycol ethers with improved filtrability are obtained if fatty alcohols of formula R1-OH, in which R1 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical with 6 to 24 carbon atoms and 0, 1, 2 or 3 double bonds, are caused to react in the presence of layer compounds with an average of 1 to 20 mol ethylene and/or propylene oxide per mol fatty alcohol, the reaction product is mixed with water and a filter auxiliary and the catalyst and the polyglycol ethers formed are separated out, possibly at high temperatures and/or pressures.
