A protection device for controlling the motion of a pneumatic actuator (3), comprising at least one elongated cylinder (6) provided with a piston (4), dividing the cylinder (6) into a first chamber (5a) and a second chamber (5b), an actuating pressure supply line (14) connectable to at least one of said first and second chambers (5a, 5b), a control means (22) for controlling the motion of the piston (4) relatively to the cylinder (6), and a sensor means (23, 30) adapted to sense a piston feature related to the piston motion and being co-operating with the control means (22). According to the invention, said control means (22) limits the motion of said piston (4) as soon as signalling from said sensor means (22, 30) indicates that an excessive value of said piston motion has been established.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de contrôler le mouvement d'un vérin pneumatique (3), lequel comprend au moins un cylindre allongé (6) équipé d'un piston (4), divisant le cylindre (6) en première et seconde chambres (5a, 5b); une conduite de mise en pression du vérin (14) pouvant être reliée au moins à l'une des deux chambres (5a, 5b); un système de commande (22) permettant de contrôler le mouvement du piston (4) par rapport au cylindre (6); et un capteur (23, 30) conçu pour déceler une fonction du piston liée au mouvement de ce piston et coopérant avec le système de commande (22). Ledit système (22) limite le mouvement du piston (4) dès que les signaux fournis par le capteur (22, 30) indiquent l'établissement d'une valeur excessive du mouvement du piston.
