La présente invention décrit une préparation à base d~arabinogalactane-protéine (AGP) de pureté élevée, isolée à partir des feuilles et/ou des tiges de l'Argemone mexicana à l~aide d~une méthode sélective. La présente invention décrit également une préparation à base d~arabinogalactane-protéine (AGP) de pureté élevée, isolée à partir des feuilles et/ou des tiges de l'Argemone mexicana, induisant un ou plusieurs des effets suivants : immunodépression, inhibition de la lymphoprolifération, modulation de la production de cytokines (par exemple inhibition de l~IL-2, inhibition de la IFN-.gamma., ou induction de l~IL-10), inhibition de la prolifération de kératinocytes, activité kératolytique et activité inhibitrice lors du test de tuméfaction de l~oreille de la souris (MEST).
