A shielding device (10) for a vehicle external rearview mirror (11). The shielding device (10) includes a transparent housing (12) hingedly connected to a mounting plate (14). The housing (12) abuts a portion of the vehicle window to provide a substantially unobstructed view of the mirror surface (13) from within the vehicle. The housing (12) includes a rear surface (21) protected from the accumulation of environmental contaminants to provide a substantially unobstructed field of view to the rear of the vehicle from the mirror surface (13). The mirror (11) can be an existing mirror fitted to the vehicle or a mirror forming part of the shielding device.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de protection (10) destiné à un rétroviseur extérieur (11) de véhicule, qui comprend un boîtier transparent (12) articulé avec une plaque de montage (14). Le boîtier (12) bute sur une partie de la fenêtre du véhicule, de façon que l'on puisse voir sans être gêné la surface (13) du rétroviseur depuis l'intérieur du véhicule.
