There is disclosed a ring binder mechanism (10) including an upper casing (12) supporting a pair of pivotable plates (14) to which three pairs of half rings (16) are mounted, and the plates (14) are pivotable between a first configuration in which the half rings (16) are closed, and a second configuration in which the half rings (16) are open, and the ring binder mechanism (10) may be secured to a cover (48) via two rivets (26), in which the rivet (26) includes an anchor plate (28) from an upper surface (30) of which a post (34) extends, and the post (34) includes an open distal end (36) which is deformed to engage with an upper surface of the upper casing (12), and a support sleeve (22) is positioned between a lower surface of the upper casing (12) and the upper surface (30) of the anchor plate (28).
