The invention involves an electrochemical battery consisting of a canister (2) containing a coiled electrochemical bundle (4) and at least one safety mechanism to guard against elevated internal pressure. This safety mechanism consists of a device that allows gas to escape (12, 13) outside the said canister (2) in case of elevated internal pressure; this device works with a second device which secures (18, 24, 25) the said bundle inside the said canister (2) and is designed to allow a space (20) for movement of the said gas between the said bundle (4) and the inside wall of the said canister (2).

La présente invention a pour objet un générateur électrochimique comprenant un conteneur (2) contenant un faisceau électrochimique spiralé (4) et au moins un dispositif de sécurité en cas d'élévation de la pression interne, caractérisé en ce que ledit dispositif comprend un premier moyen autorisant la sortie des gaz (12, 13) à l'extérieur dudit dudit conteneur (2) en cas d'élévation de la pression interne, coopérant avec un deuxième moyen de maintien (18, 24, 25) dudit faisceau à l'intérieur dudit conteneur (2) agencé de manière à créer, entre ledit faisceau (4) et la paroi interne dudit conteneur (2), un espace (20) pour la circulation desdits gaz.
