A screen assembly for use in a vibratory separator, the screen assembly comprising first and second layers of screening material, said first layer having screen mesh (232) with oblong openings, each of the oblong openings having a width (W1) and a length (L1), the ratio of the length to the width (W1) ranging between 1.55 and 2.00. Preferably, the second layer has screen mesh (233) with oblong openings, each of the oblong openings having a width (W2) and a length (L2), the ratio of the length (L2) to the width ranging between 1.55 and 2.00. Advantageously, the ratio of the length (L1) of the oblong openings of the first layer to the width (W2) of the oblong openings of the second layer ranges between 0.95 and 1.05.

L'invention concerne un ensemble tamis destin~ ~ Útre utilis~ dans un s~parateur vibrant, lequel ensemble tamis comporte une premi­re et une seconde couche d'un mat~riau de tamisage, ladite premi­re couche ~tant pourvue de mailles de tamis (232) pr~sentant des ouvertures oblongues, chacune de ces ouvertures oblongues ayant une largeur (l1) et une longueur (L1) pr~d~termin~es, le rapport de la longueur sur la largeur (l1) ~tant compris entre 1,55 et 2,00. De pr~f~rence, la seconde couche est pourvue de mailles de tamis (233) pr~sentant des ouvertures oblongues, chacune de ces ouvertures oblongues ayant une largeur (l2) et une longueur (L2) pr~d~termin~es, le rapport de la longueur (L2) sur la largeur ~tant compris entre 1,55 et 2,00. Pour plus d'efficacit~, le rapport de la longueur (L1) des ouvertures oblongues de la premi­re couche sur la largeur (l2) des ouvertures oblongues de la seconde couche est compris entre 0,95 et 1,05.
