In an article (soap-rest) for causing wet bars of soap to be drained after use when left laying on a horizontal surface, it is known to exhibit a disc like form, with several elongated penetrating elements protruding from its upper face enabling the article to be fixed onto the underside of a bar of soap. The article, when impressed into the surface of a bar of soap causes the bar of soap to be supported and slightly elevated above a surface, such as the side of a hand basin or bathtub on which a bar of soap normally reposes. Being thus supported, water, collecting on the surfaces of the bar of soap, through the activity of normal personal ablutions, drains from the surface of the bar of soap onto the surface on which the article reposes. The lower most circumferential edge of the article is radiused to minimize tactile disturbance to parts of the body when the bar of soap is used in the normal course of ablutions.
