The present invention provides compositions and methods for regulating expression of heterologous nucleotide sequences in a plant. Compositions include a novel nucleotide sequence for a root-preferred and inducible promoter for the gene encoding a soybean ripening-related protein. A method for expressing a heterologous nucleotide sequence in a plant using the promoter sequences disclosed herein is provided. The method comprises stably incorporating into the genome of a plant cell a nucleotide sequence operably linked to the root-preferred promoter of the present invention and regenerating a stably transformed plant that expresses the nucleotide sequence.
La présente invention permet d~obtenir des compositions et des méthodes pour réguler une expression de séquences de nucléotides hétérologues dans une plante. Les compositions comprennent une nouvelle séquence de nucléotides pour un promoteur destiné préférentiellement aux racines et inductible pour le gène qui code pour une protéine apparentée à la maturation d~une graine de soja. Une méthode permet d~exprimer une séquence de nucléotides hétérologues dans une plante utilisant les séquences de promoteur décrites ici. La méthode consiste à incorporer de façon stable dans le génome d'une cellule de plante une séquence de nucléotides liés fonctionnellement au promoteur destiné préférentiellement aux racines de la présente invention et à régénérer une plante transformée de façon stable qui exprime la séquence des nucléotides.
