This invention relates to a speed indicator mounted on a slow moving vehicle to show the actual speed of the vehicle to alert motorists of the potential dangers on the highway. The speed indicator consist of two illuminated red digits, large enough to be seen from a safe distance behind the vehicle. The said digits are enclosed inside a housing mounted on a detachable sub-base that is attached on a generally vertical rear outside surface of the vehicle, facing the following traffic. The controller, installed inside the indicator housing gets information from a speed sensor mounted on a vertical outside surface in proximity of a wheel, extending about the diameter of said wheel, said sensor receive information from two radial white lines on the wheel.
