A detector (64) for detection of ionizing radiation, and an apparatus for use in planar beam radiography, comprising such a detector. The detector comprises: a chamber filled with an ionizable medium; first and second electrode arrangements (2, 1, 18, 19) provided in said chamber with a space between them, said space including a conversion volume (13); means for electron avalanche amplification (17) arranged in said chamber; and, at least one arrangement of read-out elements (15) for detection of electron avalanches. A radiation entrance is provided so that radiation enters the conversion volume between the first and second electrode arrangements. In order to achieve detectors which is simple to stack with each other, the first and second electrode arrangements exhibit a first and a second main plane, said planes being non-parallel. Hereby an apparatus with stacked detectors can simply and cost-effectively be manufactured.
La présente invention concerne un détecteur (64) destiné à la détection des radiations ionisantes, et un appareil utilisable dans la radiographie par faisceau planaire, comprenant ce détecteur. Ce détecteur comprend: une chambre remplie d'un milieu ionisable; un premier et un second agencement d'électrodes (2, 1, 18, 19) disposées dans ladite chambre avec un espace entre elles, cet espace comprenant un volume de conversion (13); un organe d'amplification d'avalanche électronique (17) agencé dans la chambre, et au moins un agencement d'éléments de visualisation permettant de détecter les avalanches d'électrons. Une entrée pour radiation permet aux radiations d'entrer dans le volume de conversion entre le premier et le second agencement d'électrodes. Afin de réaliser des détecteurs simples à regrouper ensemble, le premier et le second agencement d'électrodes présentent un premier et un second plan principal, ces plans n'étant pas parallèles. On peut ainsi fabriquer de façon simple et rentable un appareil à détecteurs regroupés.
