A stand (1, 20) for a data input unit (11). The stand has a body having an elevated support surface (2) suitable for supporting a data input unit at a desired viewing angle. A display plate (13) is provided for interchangeably mounting graphic material (13) at a desired viewing angle. Illumination means (54) may be provided to illuminate the graphic material. An active luminescent sheet may be provided to actively illuminate the graphic material. The stand is suitable for supporting input devices such as credit card or EFTPOS terminals.
