In this invention, a device is created which can be hidden in any valuable object such as a car, bicycle, motorcycle, truck, trailer, boat, airplane, stereo, television, vcr, computer, etc. If the article is stolen, the device can be activated by the transmission of an electronic serial number by microwave or radio wave. Once activated the device will transmit a radio or microwave signal which can be triangulated upon to give the location of the stolen object. In the case of a stolen vehicle, the vehicle could also be rendered inoperable by the activation of the device leading to a quicker recovery of the vehicle and preventing it from becoming the object of a possibly fatal police chase.
