An alternative strapping attachment for a mechanical cardboard baler provides an apparatus that includes a frame, a trigger, an extend shaft, a drive grip, a brake grip, two springs, a movable rope-knot-clamp that is fixed to the extend shaft, and a stationary rope-knot- clamp that is fixed to the side of a mechanical cardboard baler. Such apparatus brings one end of a length of a rope that is wound around a stack of compressed cardboard to the other end of the rope. Under the compression stroke force of the apparatus, the rope reaches the optimum tightness, the operator can then tie both end of the rope, strapping a stack of cardboard into a bundled stack.
