The invention discloses an apparatus and a method of controlling the scanning features of a mobile subscriber unit (6) used by a subscriber to a communication system, comprising the steps of storing a list of one or more groups (204) to which the subscriber belongs in the mobile subscriber unit, assigning a priority to each of the groups in the list, when a dispatch communication is received, determining the group to which the dispatch is directed and the priority level of the group, and if there is an existing dispatch communication being processed, comparing the priority level of the existing dispatch communication and the priority level of the recently received dispatch communication and enabling the reception of the dispatch communication with the highest priority level.

L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé qui permettent de contrôler les fonctions d'exploration d'une unité d'abonné mobile (6) utilisée par tel ou tel abonné d'un système de communication. Le processus consiste à enregistrer dans l'unité d'abonné mobile une liste d'un ou de plusieurs groupes (204) auxquels l'abonné est rattaché, d'associer une priorité à chacun des groupes de la liste, lorsqu'une communication est reçue en vue de son relai, à déterminer le groupe vers lequel la communication doit être relayée ainsi que le degré de priorité associé à ce groupe; on détermine ensuite si le traitement d'une communication à relayer est en cours afin de comparer le niveau de priorité de cette communication et celui de la communication qui vient d'être reçue et, partant, de privéligier la réception de la communication ayant le degré de priorité le plus élevé.
