Prior art systems for supporting the metering component (3) of a coating device include a flat strip (5) as the support, the front edge (7) region of which is continuous and has a series of longitudinal slots. A set of adjusting components engage with the tongues (8) between the slots. According to the invention, the supporting strip (8) is made of spring sheet steel, the tongues (8) are firmly clamped at their end away from the metering component (3) and the continuous front edge (7) is fitted movably towards the metering component (3) between guide strips (11, 12). The adjusters (14, 17) engaging with the tongues (8) produce a flexion perpendicular to the extension plane of the tongues (8).
