The invention concerns a prosthetic cornea designed to be set in a recess provided in the eye cornea, said recess emerging in the front surface of the cornea and not in the rear surface to maintain the presence of the Descemet's membrane. It comprises a piece (42) made of transparent material with a symmetry axis of revolution having a front surface (44) shaped like a spherical cap with radius Ra and a rear surface (46) shaped like a spherical cap with radius Rp, the two surfaces being separated, in their central zones, by a distance e and a substantially truncated lateral wall (48) with its axis merging with the axis of revolution and whereof the top is arranged on the side of said front surface, the angle .alpha. formed by the cross-section of the lateral wall and of the rear surface through a plane containing said axis of revolution being not more than 45 degrees.
L'invention concerne une cornée synthétique destinée à être placée dans un évidement ménagé dans la cornée de l'oeil, ledit évidement débouchant dans la face antérieure de la cornée et non dans sa face postérieure pour laisser subsister la membrane de Descemet. Elle comprend une pièce (42) en un matériau transparent souple à axe de symétrie de révolution présentant une face antérieure (44) en forme de calotte sphérique de rayon R¿a? et une face postérieure (46) en forme de calotte sphérique de rayon R¿p?, les deux faces étant séparées, dans leurs zones centrales, par une distance e et une paroi latérale (48) en forme sensiblement de tronc de cône d'axe confondu avec l'axe de révolution et dont le sommet est disposé du côté de ladite face antérieure, l'angle a que fait la section de la paroi latérale et de la fac e postérieure par un plan contenant ledit axe de révolution étant inférieur ou égal à 45 degrés.
