A system for transformation of memory device addresses between different memory device topologies, each topology having its address space, providing the use of minimum memory space and time required for storage and computing defect data and also the flexibility of approach which allows mapping of memory device divided into an arbitrary number of tiles, each tile having different mapping scheme from a wide spectrum of mapping classes.

L'invention concerne un système de transformation d'adresses dans un dispositif de mémoire, entre différentes architectures de mémoires, chaque architecture possédant son espace d'adresses ; ce système permet l'utilisation d'un espace mémoire minimal et d'un temps requis minimal pour le stockage et le calcul de données défectueuses, de même qu'une certaine souplesse d'approche autorisant le mappage du dispositif de mémoire divisé en un nombre arbitraire de pavés, chaque pavé possédant un schéma de mappage différent, pris dans un éventail important de classes de mappage.
