A sonde cleaning brush (426) is disclosed that has a plurality of bristles (444) extending from the brush surface. The bristles (444) have a stiffener (428) attached to the bristles (444) causing the stiffness of the bristles (444) to increase along the length of the brush (426) while preserving the flexibility of the bristles (444) perpendicular to the brush length. There may be one or more stiffeners (428) attached to the brush bristles (444).
