System and method for controlling an appliance for drying clothing articles is provided. The appliance has a container for receiving the clothing articles. A motor is provided for rotating the container about an axis. A heater is provided for supplying heated air to the container during a dry cycle. A sensor is provided for providing a signal indicative of moisture content of the articles. Memory is provided memory for storing historical stop time data of respective dry cycles. A noise--reduction filter is coupled to receive the signal from the moisture sensor to provide selectable filtering to that signal. A timer provides a signal indicative of elapsed time upon start of the dry cycle. A module is responsive to the historical data in the memory for determining an initial estimate of the stop time of the dry cycle to be executed. A processor allows for estimating the stop time of the dry cycle as the cycle is being executed. The estimation of the stop time is based on a respective functional relationship of the noise-reduced sensor signal, and the timer signal, relative to one or more characteristics of the articles and one or more desired values of predetermined dry-cycle parameters selectable by a respective user of the dryer. The initial estimate of the stop time is superceded by the stop time estimated by the processor as the cycle is being executed.
La présente invention concerne un système et une méthode de contrôle d'un appareil pour sécher des articles. L'appareil comporte un contenant pour recevoir les articles de vêtement. Un moteur est prévu pour faire tourner le contenant sur un axe. Un élément chauffant est prévu pour alimenter en air chaud le contenant lors d'un cycle de séchage. Un capteur est aussi prévu pour transmettre un signal indiquant la teneur en humidité des articles. Une mémoire est également prévue pour enregistrer les données d'un historique des temps d'arrêt des cycles de séchage respectifs. Un filtre de réduction du bruit est relié de façon à recevoir le signal en provenance du capteur d'humidité afin d'assurer un filtrage dudit signal, ce filtrage pouvant être sélectionné. Un chronométreur donne un signal indiquant le temps écoulé depuis le début du cycle de séchage. Un module réagit aux données historiques de la mémoire pour déterminer une estimation initiale du temps d'arrêt du cycle de séchage à exécuter. Un processeur permet une estimation du temps d'arrêt du cycle de séchage alors que ce dernier est en cours d'exécution. Le temps d'arrêt estimatif est fondé sur une relation fonctionnelle du signal du capteur à bruit réduit, et du signal du chronométreur respectivement, par rapport à une ou plusieurs caractéristiques des articles et à une ou plusieurs valeurs de paramètres prédéterminés du cycle de séchage, qui peuvent être sélectionnés par l'utilisateur de la sécheuse. L'estimation initiale du temps d'arrêt est remplacée par l'estimation du temps d'arrêt déterminé par le processeur alors que le cycle de séchage est en cours d'exécution.
