A method and system for initializing ISDN terminals (20) include selecting (50) a set of call service features and formulating a keymap, the keymap constituting a correlation between the selected service features and feature keys (30) associated with the terminal. The keymap is entered into a memory (18) of the terminal and is uploaded (58) from the terminal to a central office (26) without the necessity of a database administrator entering the keymap data into a central office database. Communication between the terminal and the central office can be facilitated by a universal SPID. After the keymap is uploaded, the central office downloads (60) a SPID unique to the terminal for use in future calls made from the terminal. After the initialization of the terminal is complete, the selection of ISDN service features and the keymap may be revised by entering updated keymap data into the terminal memory and uploading (70) the updated data from the terminal to the central office. Additionally, the terminal may be moved (66) from the ISDN line on which it was first initialized to a second ISDN remote from the first line. The terminal may then be initialized by simply uploading (68) the service and keymap data stored in the terminal memory to the central office or, if the data has been revised, by uploading (70) the updated service and keymap data to the central office.
L'invention est constituée par une méthode et un système d'initialisation de terminaux de RNIS (20), cette initialisation comprenant la sélection (50) d'un ensemble de fonctions de service d'appel et d'établissement d'une table de correspondance, cette table de correspondance constituant une corrélation entre les fonctions de service sélectionnées et les touches de fonction (30) d'un terminal. Cette table de correspondance est introduite dans une mémoire (18) du terminal et est téléchargée (58) du terminal à un central (26) sans qu'il soit nécessaire à un administrateur de base de données d'introduire les données de cette table de correspondance dans la base de données du central. Les communications entre le terminal et le central peuvent être facilitées au moyen d'un SPID universel. Après le téléchargement de la table de correspondance, le central effectue un téléchargement (60) du SPID identifiant le terminal pour être utilisé dans les appels ultérieurs effectués à partir de ce terminal. Une fois l'initialisation du terminal complétée, la sélection des fonctions de service du RNIS et la table de correspondance peuvent être révisées par l'introduction de données de correspondance à jour dans la mémoire du terminal et par un téléchargement (70) des données à jour du terminal au central. De plus, le terminal peut être transféré (66) de la ligne du RNIS sur lequel il a été initialisé en premier lieu à un second RNIS indépendant de cette ligne. Il peut alors être initialisé par un simple téléchargement (68) vers le central des données de service et de correspondance stockées dans la mémoire ou, si ces données ont été révisées, par un téléchargement (70) vers le central des données de service et de correspondance à jour.
