An apparatus (10) for locating a subject is disclosed the apparatus includes an illumination/detection module (12) containing a source in this case a high- power laser (14) capable of radiating light at a wavelength in the infrared portion of the em spectrum. The optical output of the laser (14) is directed by beam-splitter (BS) (16) and lens (20) towards the rescue scene and a plurality of absorbers responsive to the said source disposed on the subject (22). The detection section of module (12) then collects signals radiated emitted by a plurality of emitters associated with the subject said emitters being associated with the absorbers.
L'invention concerne un appareil (10) servant à repérer un sujet, ledit appareil comprenant un module d'éclairage/de détection (12) contenant une source, en l'occurrence un laser haute puissance (14) pouvant émettre une lumière à une longueur d'ondes située dans la partie infrarouge du spectre électromagnétique. Le signal de sortie optique du laser (14) est dirigé par un diviseur de faisceaux (BS) (16) et une lentille (20) vers la scène de sauvetage et une pluralité d'éléments absorbants réagissant à ladite source disposée sur le sujet (22). La section de détection du module (12) recueille ensuite les signaux émis par rayonnement par une pluralité d'émetteurs associés au sujet, lesdits émetteurs étant associés aux éléments absorbants.
