The invention is directed to a system for combining photographic or camera image data with stored image data to generate a combined image that is then formed or outputted onto a hard copy medium. The system also incorporates a monetary value metering device, such as a postage meter, whereby a monetary value may be apportioned to the hard copy medium. In general, the system comprises a central processing device, such as a computer circuit, to control the system's overall operation; a color camera for capturing photographic data; a storage medium for storing a number of preformed images to be combined (composited) with the captured photographic data; a user input device through which a user can input the various parameters that he or she desires; a display through which information is shown to the user; a value metering device or source from which the data necessary for allocating a monetary value to the hard copy medium is obtained; and a hard copy medium output device for outputting the finished medium.
