A grammatical inference system for inferring a grammar from a plurality of example sentences. The system selects sentences having a common suffix or prefix component; identifies the other of said suffix or prefix component of each selected sentence; generating rules for generating the example sentences and the other components; reduces the right hand side of each rule on the basis of the right hand sides of the other rules; and generates a grammar on the basis of the reduced rules.

L'invention concerne un système d'inférence grammaticale permettant d'inférer une grammaire à partir d'une pluralité d'exemples de phrases. Le système sélectionne des phrases comprenant une composante de suffixe ou de préfixe commune, identifie l'autre composante de ladite composante de suffixe ou de préfixe de chaque phrase choisie, et génère des règles permettant de générer les exemples de phrases et les autres composantes, réduit la partie droite de chaque règle en fonction des parties droites des autres règles, et génère une grammaire en se fondant sur ces règles réduites.
