A system for describing the physical distribution of an agent that accumulates selectively in tissue of a patient in an excised surgical specimen. The system comprises an agent which selectively concentrates in a cancer or precancer or focus of infection or other pathological condition. The system comprises a detector sensitive to the agent which is present in the surgical specimen. The system also comprises an apparatus capable of forming an image based on the information gathered by the detector, and which image describes the physical distribution of the agent in the surgical specimen so that a surgeon can be guided by the image provided by the apparatus, said apparatus connected to said detector.
La présente invention concerne un système permettant de décrire la répartition physique d'un agent qui s'accumule sélectivement dans les tissus d'un patient dans un prélèvement chirurgical excisé. Le système comprend un agent qui se concentre sélectivement dans des cellules cancéreuses ou précancéreuses, au foyer d'une infection ou dans d'autres régions pathologiques. Il comprend aussi un détecteur sensible à l'agent présent dans le prélèvement chirurgical ainsi qu'un appareil qui peut former une image à partir des informations collectées par ledit détecteur. Cette dernière décrit la répartition physique de l'agent dans le prélèvement de sorte que le chirurgien puisse être guidé par cette image fournie par l'appareil, ledit appareil étant connecté au détecteur.
