A system for determining the spatial position and orientation of each of a plurality of bodies. Each one of the bodies has at least three markers in a predetermined, relative geometric relationship. The markers are adapted to emit energy in response to an activation signal and/or to reflect energy impinging ups such passive marker from an activatable energy source. A common energy detector is provided for detecting the energy emitted by the active marker and the energy reflected by the passive marker. A common processor is provided. The processor has a memory. The memory has stored therein the predetermined, relative geometric relation of the markers for each one of the bodies. The processor compares the stored predetermined geometric relation of the markers for each of the bodies with the energy detected by the energy detector to identify the bodies emitting, or reflecting the detected energy. With such an arrangement, a body can be tracked using a very simple sequence of operation in real-time with robust positive marker identification by taking advantage of a simple marker placement methodology. Multiple bodies can thereby be tracked simultaneously.
L'invention concerne un système permettant de déterminer la position spatiale et l'orientation de chaque corps d'une pluralité. Chaque corps possède au moins trois marqueurs reliés dans une relation géométrique relative et prédéterminée. Ces marqueurs sont conçus pour émettre de l'énergie en réponse à un signal d'activation et/ou réfléchir l'énergie incidente administrée sur un marqueur passif à partir d'une source d'énergie activable. Un détecteur d'énergie commun permet de détecter l'énergie émise par le marqueur actif, et l'énergie réfléchie par le marqueur passif. Un processeur commun est également fournit. Le processeur est doté d'une mémoire. Cette mémoire stocke la relation géométrique relative et prédéterminée entre les marqueurs de chacun des corps. Le processeur compare la relation géométrique relative et prédéterminée stockée entre les marqueurs de chacun des corps avec l'énergie détectée par le détecteur d'énergie de manière à identifier les corps émettant/ou réfléchissant l'énergie détectée. Selon cette réalisation, un corps peut être suivi, à l'aide d'une séquence très simple d'opération en temps réel, avec une identification de marqueur positif robuste tout en ayant l'avantage de reposer sur une méthodologie de positionnement de marqueur simple. De ce fait, on peut suivre plusieurs corps simultanément.
