A system for promoting a designated search engine allows a designated search engine to get more traffic without the need for a user to go to its website and to face a new layout of a search result page. A personalized web page which displays a user's favorite website links, selection of a preferred search engine and a query box for doing web searches is created for each user. The query keyword and the selection of a preferred search engine are sent to the designated search engine. A search result page is built by the designated search engine and the layout of the search result page is the same as the one from the preferred search engine. The designated search engine will get more traffic from the personalized webpage and it is promoted.
