A monoclonal antibody produced by said cell line is specifically immunologic- ally reactive with erythropoietin and with a polypeptide whose amino acid sequence is substantially duplicative of a sequence extant in erythropoietin. Disclosed also are procedures for isolation of erythropoietin by affin- ity purification and for quantitative detection of erythropoietin in fluid samples.
