A tool (10) useful for removal of a clip (12) retained on a railway rail, the tool (10) being characterised by: providing a tool (10) having a forward claw (20) adapted to engage the retained rail clip (12) beneath a forward portion of the clip and a rearward claw (24) adapted to bear against a rearward portion of a rail shoulder, the forward (20) and rearward claws (24) being spaced apart and co-operating to grip the clip (12) therebetween; and a lever (32) connected to the rearward claw (24), the rearward claw (24) being rotated in response to a rotation of the lever (32), the lever (32) and rearward claw (24) being rotatable with respect to the forward claw (20) about an axis transverse to the clip (12) and substantially parallel to the railway rail; and a wedge (34) located between the forward claw (20) and rearward claw (24) the wedge (34) arranged so as to receive and engage the clip therein; whereby, in use, a rotation of the lever (32) produces a corresponding rotation of the rearward claw (24) bringing the forward claw (20) into engagement with the clip (12) and urging the clip (12) forwards such that the outer edges of the clip are compressed by the wedge (34) to allow the clip (12) to pass through a gate (17) retaining the clip in position.

Un outil (10) servant à enlever une attache (12) de rail de chemin de fer; l'outil (10) comprend : une mâchoire avant (20) conçue pour engager l'attache (12) de rail sous la portion avant de l'attache et une mâchoire arrière (24) conçue pour s'appuyer contre la partie arrière d'un épaulement du rail, les mâchoires avant (20) et arrière (24) étant espacées et se conjuguant pour saisir l'attache (12) entre elles; un levier (32) raccordé à la mâchoire arrière (24), celle-ci pouvant pivoter à la suite de la rotation du levier (32), le levier (32) et la mâchoire arrière (24) étant susceptibles de tourner par rapport à la mâchoire avant (20) autour d'un axe perpendiculaire à l'attache (12) et substantiellement parallèle au rail; un coin (34) situé entre la mâchoire avant (20) et la mâchoire arrière (24) et conçu pour recevoir l'attache et la mettre en prise. En service, une rotation du levier (32) produit une rotation correspondante de la mâchoire arrière (24) et amène la mâchoire avant (20) en prise avec l'attache (12) qui est entraînée vers l'avant de manière que les bords extérieurs de l'attache soient comprimés par le coin (34), ce qui permet à l'attache (12) de passer dans l'ouverture de la selle (17) qui retient l'attache en place.
