The present invention relates to the field of transgenic plants with novel phenotypes, especially plants with enhanced drought and pathogen resistance. Provided are transgenic crop plants comprising integrated in their genome a chimeric gene, characterized by said chimeric gene comprising a transcription regulatory sequence active in plant cells operably linked to a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein having the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 3 or a protein at least 70 % identical to SEQ ID NO: 3, or an ortholog protein or a functional fragment thereof. In addition to enhanced drought tolerance the transgenic plants may show enhanced disease resistance and enhanced root structure.
La présente invention concerne le domaine des plantes transgéniques et divulgue de nouveaux phénotypes, en particulier des plantes présentant une résistance à la sécheresse et une résistance pathogène accrues. Les plantes en question sont des plantes de culture transgénique portant un gène chimérique intégré à leur génome et caractérisées en ce que ledit gène chimérique comprend une séquence régulatrice de transcription active dans les cellules végétales liée de manière opérationnelle à une séquence d~acide nucléique encodant une protéine de séquence SEQ ID NO: 3 ou une protéine identique à au moins 70 % à SEQ ID NO: 3 ou une protéine orthologue ou l~un de ses fragments fonctionnels. Outre une tolérance à la sécheresse accrue, les plantes transgéniques peuvent présenter une résistance à la maladie accrue et une structure racinaire améliorée.
