A tree shelter (1) comprises a biodegradable fibrous mat (2) coated with a degradable resin (5) and adapted to be formed into a roll which can enclose at least the lower part of a plant (11). The mat (2) is preferably non-woven and its structure is preferably impregnated with a second degradable resin (4) which degrades at a different, preferably faster, rate to that of the first degradable resin (5) under the same environmental conditions. Such a shelter (1) has the advantage that once the first resin (5) has substantially degraded over a predetermined time period to expose the mat to the weather, the second degradable resin (4) commences a faster degradation to cause the mat (2) to decompose rapidly into a loose fibrous state and ultimately form a beneficial mulch around the stem or trunk (12) at the base of the plant (11).
Cette invention concerne un manchon forestier (1) comprenant une nappe fibreuse biodégradable (2) enduite d'une résine biodégradable (5) qui est conçue sur elle-même sous la forme d'un tube et qui peut enfermer au moins la partie inférieure d'une plante (11). Si possible non tissée, cette nappe (2) possède une structure de préférence imprégnée d'une seconde résine biodégradable (4), laquelle se dégrade selon un rythme différent et de préférence plus rapide que la première résine dégradable (5) dans les mêmes conditions environnementales. Un tel manchon forestier (1) offre l'avantage suivant : une fois que la première résine (5) s'est sensiblement dégradée au terme d'une période prédéterminée et expose la nappe aux intempéries, la seconde résine dégradable (4) se dégrade à son tour, mais à un rythme plus rapide. La nappe (2) se décompose rapidement pour prendre un état fibreux lâche et former pour finir un paillis bénéfiques autour de la tige ou du tronc (12) au pied de la plante.
