2110990 9322545 PCTABS00027 The invention relates to a two-stroke internal combustion engine, which comprises a cylinder (2) exhibiting an internal cavity (2') of substantially cylindrical shape, a reciprocating piston (3) accomodated slidably and coaxially within the cavity (2'), and a cylinder head (6) connected to one end of the cylinder (2) of which the inwardly directed face affords a combustion chamber (7) in communication with the cavity (2'); the head (6) carries at least one spark plug (9) of which the ignition electrodes project toward or occupy the combustion chamber (7) and the engine (1) comprises at least one injector (19), passing through a side wall of the cylinder (2) and activated cyclically by an electronic control unit (20), of which the fuel spray nozzle is disposed substantially facing a selected area of the cavity (2').
