There is described an optical assembly comprising: a structure for guiding light having a top surface and a bottom surface, and comprising a plurality of grooves on the bottom surface; a plurality of optical waveguides, each being embedded in a corresponding one of the plurality of grooves, and having a coupling surface at one end; and at least two substrates, each comprising an array of optical components attached thereto, the array of optical components being substantially aligned in a one-to-one manner with the coupling surface for a corresponding group of optical waveguides amongst the plurality of optical waveguides, the at least two substrates being spaced apart to form at least one gap, the at least one gap having a non-constant width along a length thereof in order to allow the array of optical components for each one of the at least two substrates to be aligned with the coupling surface for the corresponding group of optical waveguides.

L'invention porte sur un ensemble optique comportant : une structure pour guider la lumière ayant une surface supérieure et une surface inférieure et comportant une pluralité de rainures sur la surface inférieure ; une pluralité de guides d'ondes optiques, chacun étant incorporé dans une rainure correspondante parmi la pluralité de rainures et ayant une surface de couplage à une extrémité ; et au moins deux substrats, chacun comportant un réseau de composants optiques attachés à celui-ci, le réseau de composants optiques étant sensiblement aligné de façon univoque avec la surface de couplage pour un groupe correspondant de guides d'ondes optiques parmi la pluralité de guides d'ondes optiques, les deux ou plusieurs substrats étant espacés l'un de l'autre pour former au moins un espace, le ou les espaces ayant une largeur non constante le long d'une longueur de ceux-ci afin de permettre au réseau de composants optiques pour chacun des deux ou plusieurs substrats d'être aligné avec la surface de couplage pour le groupe correspondant de guides d'ondes optiques.
