A universally sized blank (18) made of organic or synthetic material that can be placed on an exposed inner surface of a live cornea and ablated with a laser beam (L) to be altered to a particular shape. The blank (18) can be disk-shaped, annularly-shaped with a through opening, or any other suitable shape. A flap-like portion of the live cornea is removed to expose an inner surface of the cornea, and the blank (18) is positioned on the exposed inner surface of the eye. A laser beam (L) is directed onto a portion of the exposed inner surface (e.g., exposed at the opening in the blank), a portion of the blank (18), or both, based on the type of ametropic condition (i.e., myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism) of the eye needing correction, so that the laser beam (L) ablates those portions of the inner surface and/or blank (18) and thus reshapes the inner surface, the blank (18), or both.
L'invention concerne un implant ou ébauche (18) de dimension universelle en matériau organique ou synthétique, que l'on peut placer sur une surface intérieure exposée de la cornée vivante que l'on doit modifier par ablation au laser (L) afin d'obtenir une forme particulière. Cette ébauche (18) peut avoir la forme d'un disque, ou d'un anneau et comporter une ouverture traversante, ou toute autre forme appropriée. On enlève une partie en forme de rabat de la cornée vivante afin de découvrir une surface intérieure de la cornée, et l'on place l'ébauche (18) sur la surface intérieure exposée de l'oeil. On dirige un faisceau laser (L) sur une partie de la surface intérieure exposée (par exemple, exposée au niveau de l'ouverture ménagée dans l'ébauche), sur une partie de l'ébauche (18), voire sur les deux, en fonction du type d'état d'amétropie (myopie, hypermétropie ou astigmatisme) de l'oeil nécessitant la correction, de sorte que le faisceau laser (L) permet l'ablation de ces parties de la surface intérieure et/ou de l'ébauche (18) et, par conséquent, le refaçonnage de la surface intérieure, de l'ébauche (18), voire des deux.
