A vacuum roll apparatus (12) is disclosed for transferring a web (W) supported on a dryer felt (14) from a first to a second drying, cylinder (16, 18) of a dryer section (10). The apparatus (12) includes a rotatable perforate shell (20) having a first and a second end (22, 24), the shell (20) defining a cavity (26) which extends from the first to the second end (22, 24) of the shell (20). The arrangement is such that the dryer felt (14) extends from the first dryer (16) around the perforate shell (20) to the second dryer (18) with the web (W) extending contiguously with the dryer felt (14), and the dryer felt (14) being disposed between the shell (20) and the web (W). At least one fin (28) is rigidly secured to the shell (20) and is disposed within the cavity (26) such that when the shell (20) is rotated, the fin (28) generates a flow of air (32) through the perforate shell (20) towards the cavity (26) for drawing the web (W) into close conformity with the dryer felt (14) during movement thereof around the vacuum roll apparatus (12) so that the web (W) is restrained against cross-machine directional shrinkage (34).
L'invention concerne un appareil à cylindres d'aspiration (12) conçu pour transférer une bande supportée par un feutre sécheur (14) d'un premier à un deuxième cylindres d'aspiration (16, 18) de sécherie (10). Ledit appareil (12) comporte une enveloppe perforée rotative (20) présentant une première et une deuxième extrémités (22, 24) et définissant une cavité (26) s'étendant depuis la première (22) jusqu'à la deuxième (24) extrémités de l'enveloppe (20). Le dispositif est conçu de sorte que le feutre sécheur (14) s'étende depuis le premier séchoir (16) autour de l'enveloppe perforée (20) jusqu'au deuxième séchoir (18), la bande (W) s'étendant sur le feutre sécheur (16) qui est placé entre l'enveloppe (20) et la bande (W). Au moins une ailette (28) montée rigide sur l'enveloppe (20) est prévue dans la cavité (26) de sorte que lorsque l'enveloppe (20) tourne, l'ailette (28) génère un flux d'air (32) à travers l'enveloppe perforée (20) en direction de la cavité (26) de manière à étirer la bande (W) en suivant les contours du feutre sécheur (14) pendant que ce dernier se déplace autour de l'appareil à cylindre sécheur (12), ce qui permet de retenir la bande (W) et d'éviter toute perte de rendement dans le sens perpendiculaire à la fabrication (34).
