A valve for use in the construction of oil and gas wells, which valve comprises means (12, 15, 24) responsive to hydrostatic pressure to close said valve, and frangible member to maintain said valve in an open position in which fluid can pass through said valve, characterised in that said frangible member comprises a shear ring (16) the arrangement being such that, in use, when said valve is subjected to a predetermined hydrostatic pressure said shear ring will shear and thereby permit said valve to close.
L'invention concerne une valve destinée à la construction des puits de pétrole et de gaz, qui comprend un système (12, 15, 24) réagissant à la pression hydrostatique pour assurer la fermeture de ladite valve, et un élément frangible qui permet de maintenir cette valve à l'état ouvert afin de laisser passer un fluide dans la valve, ledit élément frangible comprenant un anneau de cisaillement (16), pour que, à l'utilisation, l'anneau en question se cisaille et permette la fermeture de la valve, sous l'effet d'une pression hydrostatique prédéterminée.
