The already patented (USA) Wheel Clamp was designed as a security device to prevent the theft of vehicles and trailers. When it is installed on the wheel of the vehicle, it immobilizes the vehicle so that it cannot be stolen. It clamps to the inner and outer rim of the wheel and at the same time covers one wheel nut, so that the wheel cannot be removed by removing the wheel nuts. It does not however prevent the removal of the center hub nut (sometimes called the axle nut). Therefore, if a thief were to remove the center hub nut, he could remove the entire wheel and Clamp from the axle, and replace it with a substitute tire. This would allow the vehicle or trailer to be stolen The purpose of the Wheel Hub Cover Accessory Kit is to cover the center hub nut, mentioned above, so that it cannot be undone and the wheel cannot be removed in that manner. The Wheel Hub Cover is an accessory to the Wheel Clamp and must be used in conjunction with the Clamp, in order for it to work. Its use is especially important in the case of vehicle or trailer with a tandem axle, (i.e. 4 wheels with 2 axles on the rear). Without the use of the Wheel Hub Cover Accessory Kit, a thief could potentially remove the clamped wheel from the axle and drive away on the three remaining wheels without the need for a replacement tire.
