A profilometer having a beam placement system (10) which includes a beam (50) pivotally connected to a front and a rear foot member (52, 54). The foot members (52, 54) are spaced along the length of the beam (50) and are arranged to be positioned on a section of pavement. The beam placement system (10) also includes means for repositioning said front and rear foot members (52, 54) so that upon forward movement of the profilometer along the pavement whose profile is to be measured the rear foot member (54) is positioned on the section of pavement previously occupied by said front foot member (52), and means for measuring the slope (60) of the beam (50) between the front and rear foot members (52, 54).

Profilomètre pourvu d'un système (10) de positionnement de poutre qui comprend une poutre (50) reliée pivotante à un pied antérieur et à un pied postérieur (52, 54). Les pieds (52, 54) sont espacés sur la longueur du faiscesu (50) et sont agencés de façon à être positionnés sur une partie de la chaussée. Le système (10) de positionnement de poutre (10) comprend également des moyens permettant de repositionner les pieds antérieur et postérieur (52, 54) de façon que, lors du déplacement vers l'avant du profilomètre le long de la chaussée dont le profil doit être mesuré, le pied postérieur (54) soit positionné sur la partie de la chaussée précédemment occupée par le pied antérieur (52).
