A door or lid as defined includes a tempered glass panel of a predetermined peripheral configuration defined by a substantially continuous peripheral edge, the panel including opposite inner and outer surfaces bridged by the peripheral edge. An open frame formed at least in part of molded polymeric/copolymeric synthetic plastic material includes an outer peripheral portion and an inner peripheral portion that entirely borders the glass panel peripheral portion. The frame includes a hinge associated with each corner portion for hingingly connecting the door to an associated structural opening. Each hinge includes a pintle portion and a mounting portion, the pintle portions projecting through a corner opening. The mounting portions are disposed contiguous the outer peripheral portion inner surface. Means for fastening each mounting portion to the outer peripheral portion are also disclosed.
