The present invention relates to a stabilized nucleic acid that kills tumor cells and methods for producing the same. Specifically, the nucleic acid drug comprises pairs of viral inverted terminal repeat hairpin loops which elicit cell apoptosis. The present invention also provides methods for making such a stabilized nucleic acid drug as well as methods for targeting the drug to a cell nucleus or genome. Accordingly, the nucleic acid drug of the present invention is useful for inducing apoptosis in cells, especially those lacking p53, such as cancer cells.
L'invention concerne un acide nucléique stabilisé tuant des cellules tumorales, ainsi que des procédés de production de ce produit. Le médicament à base d'acide nucléique comprend spécifiquement des paires de boucles en épingle à cheveu à répétition terminale inversée provoquant l'apoptose cellulaire. Elle concerne aussi des procédés de fabrication d'un tel médicament à base d'acide nucléique stabilisé ainsi que des procédés de ciblage du médicament sur un noyau ou un génome cellulaire. Il s'ensuit que le médicament à base d'acide nucléique de cette invention est utile pour induire l'apoptose de cellules, particulièrement celles manquant de p53, telles que les cellules cancéreuses.
