This invention is an abdominal exercise apparatus (70) comprising a platform (72) having two upwardly extending sidewalls (74, 76). Positioned between the sidewalls and over the platform is an adjustable belt (92) including an abdominal pad (104). The belt is connected to the platform by elastic cords (112-118) which extend from either side of the belt through the sidewalls and attach underneath the platform on a series of hooks (122). In use, the belt is tightened across the abdomen of a user so that as the user rotates forward in a "sit-up"-type or "crunch"-type exercise, the abdominal pad and elastic cords provide direct resitance to the abdomen for an isometric and kinetic abdominal exercise.
L'invention porte sur un appareil d'exercices abdominaux (70) comportant une plate-forme (72) pourvue de deux parois latérales (74, 76) s'étendant vers le haut. Placée entre les parois et sur la plate-forme, se trouve une sangle réglable (92) munie d'un coussin abdominal (104). Ladite sangle est reliée à la plate-forme par des cordes élastiques (112)-(118) s'étendant de part et d'autre de la sangle, traversant les parois latérales et s'attachant sous la plate-forme sur une série de crochets (122). Lors de l'utilisation, la sangle se trouve tendue en travers de l'abdomen de l'utilisateur, de telle manière que lorsque ce dernier se courbe vers l'avant pour un exercice de type "redressement assis ou redressement du tronc pieds en l'air" le coussin abdominal et les cordes élastiques offrent une résistance directe à l'abdomen permettant un exercice abdominal isométrique et cinétique.
