A device (10) is provided for use in reinforcing a boundary wall of a patient's abdominal cavity at a site at which a portion of the patient's alimentary tract passes through that boundary wall. The device comprises a collar portion (11) for extending, in use, around the alimentary tract (17) at the approach of the alimentary tract to the interior of the boundary wall at said site. The device also comprises a plurality of petal-like elements (12) extending from the collar portion (11), said elements being arranged so as to extend, in use, outwardly with respect to the longitudinal axis of the portion of the alimentary tract passing through the collar portion and to be attached, in use, to the interior of the boundary wall around said side. The device is preferably, but not exclusively, for use in the prevention or treatment of parastomal herniation in patients having a colostomy or ileostomy or the like. It may however also find other applications, for example in the repair of developed hiatus hernias or the like.
L'invention porte sur un dispositif (10) destiné à être utilisé pour renforcer une paroi de délimitation de la cavité abdominale d'un patient, au niveau d'un site, où une partie du tube digestif passe dans la paroi de délimitation. Le dispositif comprend une partie collerette (11) s'étendant, en utilisation, autour du tube digestif (17) lorsque celui-ci arrive vers l'intérieur de la paroi de délimitation au niveau du site. Le dispositif comprend également une pluralité d'éléments de type pétales (12) s'étendant depuis la partie collerette (11), ces éléments étant disposés de façon à s'étendre, en utilisation, vers l'extérieur par rapport à l'axe longitudinal de la partie du tube digestif passant dans la partie collerette et devant être fixés, en utilisation, par rapport à l'intérieur de la paroi de délimitation autour du côté. Le dispositif est de préférence, mais pas exclusivement, destiné à être utilisé dans la prévention ou le traitement de la formation d'une hernie parastomale chez des patients sur lesquels on a effectué une colostomie ou iléostomie ou analogue. Ce dispositif peut toutefois avoir d'autres applications, par exemple, dans la réparation d'hernies hiatales qui se sont développées ou analogue.
