ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An above-ground circular swimming pool comprising an annular base, a circular wall anchored to the base and an impervious pool lining sheet depending from the upper end of the wall, lining its inner surface and also the ground area circumscribed by the base. The wall consists of a plurality of upright wooden narrow planks united by angled tenon-and-mortise joints. The base consists of a series of straight planks with bevelled ends abutting each other at an angle. A strip is secured to and straddles adjacent base planks. The strip defines an inwardly-facing circular step of a diameter about equal to that of the pool and against which the lower ends of the wall planks are fixed. This step determines the proper location of the wall planks during pool construction and serves as a retainer against hydraulic pressure exerted on the wall.
